How to cut wrong-address reshipments to almost zero
Few things burn margin like a parcel sent to the wrong address. You pay to ship it, it fails to deliver, you pay to ship it again, and the customer is unhappy the whole time. The maddening part is that the customer usually spotted the mistake within minutes.
Where wrong addresses come from
Most bad addresses are simple slips: a missing flat number, an autofill from an old home, a transposed postcode. The customer notices almost immediately, but by the time they have emailed you and you have replied, the order may already be picked.
Give them the fix, not a form to wait on
Instead of a support round-trip, let customers correct their own shipping address on the thank-you and order-status pages within your edit window. The correction writes straight back to the Shopify order, so your warehouse and 3PL ship to the right place first time.
The knock-on savings
Cutting wrong-address orders does more than save postage. It reduces support volume, prevents refunds and negative reviews, and keeps your delivery promise intact. The savings compound across every order that would otherwise have gone astray.
Keep it safe
As with any edit, the window closes before fulfilment and edits are enforced server-side, so an address can never change once the parcel is on its way.
